I'll try not to sound like the advertising manager for this place (ie the other reviewer so far). Visited before Christmas last year. The food was painfully slow in arriving, and could have been hotter. I correctly assumed that the duck breast on the menu would be ruined by over-cooking (why do pubs insist on cooking like that, it's already dead?!) Sadly, my better half opted for the duck. I went for turkey and it was pretty good- cooked properly, retaining its juiciness. The vegetables were a mixture of barely cooked and boiled for hours. Oh dear. On the plus side, it was very clean and tidy, with friendly staff. Well kept beer. quietriot - 1 Apr 2011 01:07 |
laterooms.com comment: Originally a farmhouse, the pub dates back to 1838 and has retained much of its old character having oak beams, flagstone flooring and real fires lit in winter. Situated just 8 miles from Sheffield City centre and only one mile from Junction 31 off the M1 The cosy bar, restaurant and terrace offer seasonal menus, with a wide selection of modern and traditional British favourites, from hearty main courses and lighter snacks, complimented by a selection of real ales, carefully selected wines, speciality teas and coffees. The hotel offers 29 comfortable en-suite bedrooms. reynard - 8 Oct 2009 19:57 |

Traditional quiet country pub on the A57, M1 junct 31. Greene King old English inn Tastefully timbered interior, with slabbed floor. Very pleasant atmosphere. Accommodation and restaurant. Small beer garden. Function room. Cask ales : greene king abbot & IPA All extremely well-kept ! But poor value for the area at around 2.55 a pint. reynard - 27 Nov 2006 17:41 |
