please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

We visited early on a Saturday evening (Jan 2012). A busy pub nowadays so a good idea to book if you want to have a meal. Good food and generous portions. Timothy Taylors landlord available so all is recommended.
Top end of price range but well worth a visit.
The pub was pretty full by 18:30 - just about 100% eating - not a drinkers pub

Visited at lunchtime mid-week, quite busy. Good beer. Limited menu but there is also a specials board. Food above average but service a little slow. Overall well worth a visit.

I have been an honoree regular for the last 6 months, whilst staying in Wentbridge and working in Pontefract. I have seen the pub change for the better, since the last landlord has left.
The food has improved considerably, especially when "Bob" the head chef is on duty!
The staff are very pleasant and helpful especially the Beverage Dispenser "Sam" (hates being called a barmaid)
Since Christmas 2006, the place has being getting very busy, which of course adds to the ambieance.

This is a no nonsense down to earth friendly pub with consistently good beer, good food and excellent service. I suppose the main road it's on used to be called the A1 at some point in the past? Which makes it a very handy stopping off point if you're on a long journey.
