...who says you need to go to central london for a great cocktailbar..I dropped in to Frieda B on the recommendation of a friend (I have lived in the area several years but didnt know it existed!) and had such a great time . I am very particular about my Mohitos and I think these are the best in town - thanks Pierre...music was really good and I love the downstairs area.. why have I not known about this place?? I went back to Frieda B last Thursday having heard from friends that there they had refurbished and taken on new staff - a great place has become even better - even better cocktails, music and a great atmosphere. Downstairs looks amazing - they have redone the DJ booth and downstairs bar - love the floor lights. If Nicolas is working - ask him to show you some magic tricks..and Sebastien makes the best Martinis in London!! Annie2 - 1 Jun 2008 16:57 |
My dear birkers, thank you for the advice, but I am someone repelled both by naff chavery (hello Yates) and pretentious slime, the latter of which infests Clapham like a really good outbreak of crotch rot. And really, only people who wear slacks, say arf arf a lot and go by the name of something like Tarquin could believe sincerely that this place or indeed the area doesnt have a big whack of pretension. That said or rather re-said as its contained in the original review there are plenty of elements to enjoy in FB, but it is a wine bar very much in the Claphamite image. anonymous - 16 Nov 2006 17:00 |
This is a great bar, much more intimate than the binge drinking factories on Northcote Road, pgazz should stick to the Yates Wine Lodge at Clapham Junction. 250 for a bottle of Chrystal is actually really good value. arf arf. The staff here are great and locals are not pretenious at all its got great atmophere, Battersea's very own Cheers. Richard the owner gives has stamped his own personality on the place, and will mix you a wicked coctail, all named after his own globe travelling adventures. Its also got a late license and you can hire downstairs if you really want tie one on with your mates. After a heavy night, Rich will even lend you a pint of milk out the fridges for your tea in morning. BIRKERS - 16 Nov 2006 16:37 |
This is my favourite bar for one reason, the clientelle are both friendly and well behaved. As a women, it is the only bar I feel safe to walk into on my own. A doorman who ensures you are safe and knows most of the regulars. Ricahrd (the owner) is knowledgeable and a fantastic host making sure his guests are happy. There is a small dance floor downstairs which can be hired out for private partie and a DJ booth for yu to spin your own tunes. It is comfortable, well decorated clean and friendly. Although Frieda's does not sell draft larger, they do have a wide range of spirits, wines (inc champers) and all bar staff make mean cocktails at a good price. This bar has a late licence on the weekends so gets very packed after 11pm. I give this bar 10/10. lyndad - 30 Aug 2006 16:39 |
