There is plenty of potential trouble at this corner pub. Intimidating atmopshere coupled with a run down appearance mean this is one for the hardened regulars only phonak - 17 Jan 2010 17:46 |
Went in here before watching Hartlepool at Gillingham. Not a bad pint and average price. Plenty of locals including a Charlton Athletic fan who kept telling us that him and his mate had been drinking since 6pm the night before!!! Once a few more Pool's fans came in he quickly headed for them though. Had great entertainment watching the many motoring incidents that occured at the traffick lights outside. Top Fun!!!! Very much a locals pub, but more space than expected inside, and they had the cricket on Sky TV which kept us happy. I also noted a juke box in the corner. Staff were friendly and some were even quite pretty!!!! Would visit again. Kentbeerboys - 2 Sep 2009 13:18 |
An OK but noisy and fairly unwelcoming pub. You certainly feel out of place in there. It is usually ram-packed full of locals and you feel that there is potential for trouble, although, in all fairness, i've been in there a few times over the years and I haven't seen any. The relatively new decor with its plasma screens and black leather sofas was a welcome touch but it has the "can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" feel - it is loud and pretty much full of heavy drinking men, especially on match days. Overall, you could do worse but I wouldn't recommend staying for more than one - there are better pubs in the area. Dunmall - 18 Jan 2009 11:04 |
