Very near the M4 (great) but what a disappointment - Two Lodden beers plus 6X. I tried both the Lodden beers and they were both as flat as pancakes and freezing cold. The landlord also had his hand right round the top of the glass form where I was about to drink which really bugs me! I certainly wouldn't put this pub in the Good Beer Guide As regards the food. I agree with one of the previous postings when I asked for the lunch time menu the only thing on the menu was a cheese and tomato baguette with chips (7.00 or 7.50 can't remember which) so I opted for the fish and chips 12.50. I was expecting an enormous portion for that price but it was fairly small by pub standards although it was perfectly cooked and it did arrive quickly. At the end of the meal I was presented with a bill where the service was included on all items including the drinks. What a cheek. I will not be returning. The landlord was grumpy too and infront of his customers chastised one of the girls serving. Not very proefessional BeerManiac - 3 Nov 2009 13:38 |
It is a shame to advertise food - and then the only snack meal on offer is a baguette with cheddar cheese. Not the only snack left! The only one on offer!!! Lovely situation - disappointing food! hazydays - 17 Aug 2009 22:25 |
Located very near the M4 this pub must disappoint a lot of travellers who are looking for refreshments. Of the 3 vital criteria beer; service and food The Pheasant only manages a positive score on the beer. I tried the Loddon Brewery Hoppit which was O.K. Before I got my beer the service had already soured my visit as the man behind the bar ignored me; fortunately the lady also serving eventually served me. The prices are high. The real negative is the food. This place is half bar and half restaurant, a real Frankenstein as there is only one menu with a single item that might be considered a lunch snack. At 7.50 for a cheese sandwich (baguette of course) and chips this didnt get my business. To put mustard on the visit the menu told me in small print that an optional 10% service charge would be added! Wednesday_Every_Day - 30 May 2009 12:56 |

An excellent pub very conveniently situated near the M4. Good choice of local beer available. It clearly does well with its restaurant, but retains a bar area for drinkers. Floyd - 30 Dec 2008 17:33 |
