absoloutly loved our visit to the royal oak.

Nestled in a ridiculously pretty english village, in stunning country side, this pub has great garden area, and a decking area out the front facing the quiet road. the inside is nice and open plan, with a country charm to it. the service was superbb, really top friendly service. the beers were excellent,. 2B, 3B and wilshire gold were all on and all very enjoyable.

the food, was just out of this world. i mean best meal ive had this year. i had the pork belly, which was perfect and my other half had a wild foraged salad, which was a genuine contender for best salad, and most interesting dish shes ever had.

cant sing the praises high enough for this place.

Visited on a quiet Weds lunchtime and the food was pretty good. It's nice to see a daily changing menu with some unique dishes on it. There is an excellent cheese board which the chef brought out and explained where each one (5 in total) came from. Agree with previous comments that it would be better if this was a free house rather than Arkells, but having said that the 'Moonlight' wasn't half bad.

Lovely open-plan, wooden-floored pub with friendly staff. Food menu quite limited and a little expensive (restaurant prices), but the quality is superb. The organic meat comes from the farm down the road, which is owned by the same couple who now own the pub. I arranged (at fairly short notice) to take a group of 30 cyclists there for lunch, and the manager was very helpful; the chef even sat down with me and discussed what sort of things we'd like on the menu that day. On the day, the pub's owners turned up to help the staff serve the food and make sure we were all happy. The only downside from my point of view: the draught beer is Arkells. I spent 10 years living in Swindon and as a result I will be quite content if I never taste a pint of 3Bs ever again, but that's just me. Many real ale buffs are great fans of it. Anyway, my pint had been kept well so it was as good as Arkells is likely to get. They do an interesting selection of bottled drinks: I recommmend the organic ginger beer if you like your cold drinks HOT...

Superb organic food from the village farm run by Helen Browning and other local producers. Friendly staff and great organic beers, wines etc.

The pub of my youth! very much a countrypub, set in an idyllic Wilstshire village, with posnd etc. Especially sociable at weekends, or at least it used to be! Sells Arkells Ales.
