Finally we found a pub that was open to round off our Sunday evening visit to West Sussex. Although it took an eternity to be served. One guy seemed to be ordering for a few thousand and the lager being ordered by the next customer seemed to be suffering from an excessive amount of gas. 10 minutes later and the landlord finally got around to serving me. Having all of this time had allowed me to spot the Biddendens Cider in a (probably fake) wooden keg in one corner of the bar. Unfortunately, this bearded fella informed me that it was past its best. The fallback was Three B's Stoker's Slake, which was a very nice substitute. Other beers on were WJ King Kings Old Ale, Plain Ales Intrigue, Harveys Sussex Best Bitter & Hogsback HBB. This single room pub is still worth a visit and has a very nice location, if you can put up with the lack of serving staff.

Fond memories of visiting here for the bar billiards (none now, sadly).

Very disappointed as it looks beautiful from the outside but one step inside and you are confronted by a wall of smell which put me off from eating. But stayed for a drink which i had a soft drink which was served in a wine glass enough said. I love an old pub but this was like going back in time in a bad way .

A sort of timeless atmosphere in this place. Nothing hurried, nothing much has changed in years I would guess. Very nice bar staff and the 4 generations of friendly pooch. Beer range very broad considering its not a busy place, tucked away in nowhereland. The Palmers bitter was in v good condition, and there was Harveys Old and Sussex bitter as well as a Mild. Food very good quality. So nice to find this sort of pub still exists.

For the real old village pub goer, this is a bit of a gem, it's a bit higglety-piggilty in some ways but the food is superb, ale well kept and the staff a bit of a laugh. It's about 9 months since we last visited but I'm sure little has changed. If I remember correctly, the landlord has been 'in post' some decades now. It's the sort of place I would recommend to tourists to Britain !!!!!!
