Visited the Red Lion shortly after opening on a Friday lunchtime. It seems tucked away in the middle of nowhere. Although the lane outside is categorised as a B road. The interior looked fairly small at first. But we were only in the bar area. At the rear are more rooms leading to accommodation. Presumably some of these rooms are used for diners. But we were the only customers. Judging by the various pictures, the pub is certainly popular with local fishermen. Wye Valley Butty Bach is the regular ale. The guest was Ruffled Feathers from the Swan Brewery. There was no real cider. blue_scrumpy - 30 Oct 2018 19:06 |
calling all foodies great game menu , wild boar pheasant etc also best vegetarian food also I have ever tasted imaginative and tasty soooo tasty eat here whether carnivore or veggie trust me you won't be disappointed you won't find the same old pap here dished out by so many pub grub venues the food here really is different such a refreshing change , stayed last weekend hubbies a veggie I am not and they catered fantastically for us both and this indeed is a rare occurance in the world of food , only wished we lived more local to this great little pub as would be a frequent customer for the food . what can I say yum yum yum dine here before top london restaurant snaps up this talented chef, so shhh keep it a secret mrmrselley - 21 May 2012 13:02 |
Situated about half-way between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye this roadside inn offers excellent food and drink. The pub controls about 5-miles of fishing on the nearby River Wye and in the evening it is frequented by anglers. A log fire dominates the bar in the winter. Beer garden in the back Well worth a stop, don't be put off by the drab exterior. Altfish - 26 Aug 2005 12:57 |
