I visited this pub after staying in a local B&B on a business meeting; I was quite surprised that you had to pay an entrance fee to get into this pub in such a sleepy quiet town. I thought I'd give it a go. I stayed for a while since I had to pay to have a drink, and the place did get quite busy, although it must have been just locals who had nowhere else to go at 11. The atmosphere completely changed and I felt very uncomfortable with the rowdy locals. Not long after I witnessed two fights. I left soon after. I'm not sure what this place is like during the day, the menu does look nice, although didnt get to try anything, would definitely not recommend going here for a quiet drink though. critique_1 - 24 Jan 2011 14:30 |
This Bar has recently changed hands (early August 08) and has been refurbished from top to bottom. Now called Duke's, it offers good food, beer, music, service and atmosphere. I have been going regularly since it re-opened, especially on the weekends and in my opinion is exactly what the area has been waiting for. Well worth checking out! MLVH - 8 Oct 2008 15:04 |
Visited the new 'Duke's' last night and can't say I was impressed. Music is a bit too loud to hold a conversation, bar staff don't seem to really know what they are doing or where anything is and the decor is a bit much. Was served a horrible flat pint of Pride. Maybe just teething problems... kloudi - 5 Aug 2008 13:52 |
All I can say is...WOW!! This place HAS to be seen! Its amazing! Big leather chairs, widescreen tv's and funky music make this place somehwere which I will be using a lot of now. bishop1 - 3 Aug 2008 11:14 |
