I had to visit Warwick at very short notice and found the Crown & Castle via BITE only an hour before setting off. I understand that pub has recently changed hands and now has new management and chef. The room was modest but clean, tidy and had the usual facilities. Major changes to the restaurant/menu are in hand. Best parts of my short stay were: i) first class service from all the staff, ii) full english breakfast was outstanding and far better than I've had in 4 star hotels in London, iii) well kept real ale admittedly of limited choice & iv) off road parking Bits for improvement were: i) low stock of complementary items in the room (tea/coffee/milk) ii)lack of complementary items in the room (soap/tooth brush/paste) iii)poor reception on some TV channels (I understand that this is a problem in this particular room). In summary, a great place to stay at a modest price in a beautiful town. I will recommend to friends and I will revisit. Can't wait to see what other improvements the new owners have implemented and take more time to explore this historic town. Regards... Pete petee - 9 Jul 2008 12:42 |
Went there a few weeks ago - after realising the had tables outside for us few remaining smokers. (although the tables seemed to be quite close to the car park). Took ages to get served both times we went to the bar - and the beer was overpriced, however, the food was delicious. The garlic mushrooms with bacon, cream sauce and crutons were the best I have ever tasted. Would definately go back just for them alone. 5/10 for the beer/service - 9/10 for the food. hammondshamster - 24 Oct 2007 12:47 |
Accomodation is a bit "basic", but for a 400 year old building, much modified, not that bad. Food is good value, and it quite handy for the centre of Warwick. Staff are very friendly and efficient. anonymous - 25 Oct 2006 11:20 |
