Forget it. This pub has now been run down to a terrible state. Food is not being served and the heating isn't switched on and it's filthy. They close early due to lack of support. They don't open many nights and they are even closed on a Sunday afternoon. They even had the nerve to increase what is already an over priced pint from 2.60 - 2.70 even though they must be trying to attract customers.

About 50 yards away from the Boat House situated on the main road (which leads to a dead end). Its quite remarkable how the two pubs have survived and thrived when so many are closing, even more so when you consider that its a relatively small place but pulls people in from surrounding areas.

Compliments the other pub very well, is probably slightly larger with an eating area and large beer garden which has the most unusual voew of an genuine old mining pihead which is part of the mining heritage place next door.

Good home cooked food, good service and choic of drinks. Gve both pubs 8 as there is nothing between them, both good.

This is now a really good Real Ale pub, with up to 4 Real Ales on a weekend and one or two during the week.Add the good menu and the music on a Friday night, its now one of the best village pubs in the district.

A really good pub for locals and visitors alike. The food is great since the new team took over, admittedly a little bit more expensive than most local pubs but still good value given the quality of the chef-prepared fodder. The chips (you literally get 4 or 6 BIG chips) are fantastic. Rack of lamb is lean and succulent. Specials board. Try the fishcake. No pool table, still has darts though. Only bad points for me are the choice of newspapers (Express, Mail) and the younger female barstaff do not seem interested. Great food-service though. Book in advance on busy days to be guaranteed a table.

this pub does not have a pool table as advertised. Also food is good sometimes but has gone downhill fast in the last 12 weeks apart from sunday lunch. Very expensive tho not many places charge 8.50 for cottage pie. staff wise a young man about seven foot tall called ben was very pleasant and was bar training last time we came in keep up the good work Ben. a couple of young girls tho would rather stand doing their nails. One of my freinds posted a medioka comment on this site and it was take off it will be interesting to see what happens to this one.
