| We have eaten at the Admiral Rodney before and enjoyed an excellent meal, however, today we booked a table to celebrate a 96th birthday and have to say we were bitterly disappointed. After telling us what a successful jubilee he'd had the landlord made us shout our order over to the bar because he was too busy planning the next event to take our order properly. The table at which we were seated was sticky and none too clean. Mushy peas served with the fish were almost cold, chips were lukewarm and greasy (served in a posh little basket but rubbish nonetheless). The gammon served with eggs was all too obviously left over from the weekend etc, etc. Our plates were cleared, neither puddings nor coffees were offered; we paid the bill and left feeling as though we had inconvenienced the landlord and paid a high price for it.
