Now re-opened after a reputed 1 million refurb as The Barracua Bar. Not sure what they spent the money on as the only diferences I could see were a couple of Palm Trees outside and some giant tables inconveniently placed onwhat used to be the dance floor. Has an extensive South African menu apparently which will have to do well as after the novelty value has worn off I'd imagine it will be as empty as the Rectory used to be. When the Rectory first opened its was really modern and fantastic. But in the last year or so its gone down hill. Its not as busy as it use to be, before you actually had to queue, now you can nearly get to the bar without to much hassle. The drinks aren't too expensive, you can get 3 bottle's of red square for a fiver! The toilets are getting as bad a rendezvous. If you go the one's downstairs then be careful you don't crack your head on the way down or slip on the broken glass. You'll be lucky if you find a toilet with a working lock and toilet paper. My friend once used the toilet's upstairs and actually found lice on the toilet paper, the barman didn't believe her until she showed him. Good music, nice staff and an alright pub, but avoid the toilets as much as possible. anonymous - 10 Sep 2005 03:02 |
