please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Used to be the best of the 4 pubs in this village. Now converted into apartments.

Now turned into self-catering holiday accommodation, by the look of it. Shame, but I wonder if a village the size of Longnor could really support three or four pubs?

This pub used to be very atmospheric and a part of the village like the other pubs with good beer and food and an endless supply of pub games and friendly locals. Unfortunately it has been destroyed by yuppies

The Crewe and Harpur Arms is set in some of the most beautiful countryside in England, and with Derbyshire on the doorstep it is well placed for exploring the dales and moors nearby.

The accommodation itself almost lives up to the pictures on its website. The room we had was well appointed with a large comfortable bed and a huge flat screen TV, but not much else. Unfortunately the rooms dont seem to be very sound proof though, as we could hear voices and the TV from the room next to us. There also wasnt much in the way of mood lighting (except of course the bright red fire alarm light in the ceiling, and the gap under the door to the well lit corridor, both of which shone plenty of brightness into the room all night).

The highlight of this hotel has to be the bathrooms. Ours really was excellent, beautifully tiled with a huge bath & shower, and very relaxing for several long soaks just what you need after a long day of exploring!

The one other thing worthy of comment is the food which we found to be delicious. We decided to eat in the hotel each night, and were pleased with the quality and presentation of each dish. However when it came to settling our bill at the end of the weekend we had been overcharged. It was over a week before the hotel admitted it was their error and we were promised a refund. Six weeks on and the refund still has not materialised despite several emails and phone calls which now seem to be being ignored.
