PDWR.....Spot on, and we even had a win on the meat raffle last weekend, and very nice it was to. MSE12 - 23 Feb 2014 11:21 |
I've visited this pub 3 times in the last week although have walked past many times before. My girlfriend always used to say not to bother and to be fair to her, it has never looked much from the outside - until now. My first visit came about as I saw they had the rugby on and the place looked a lot more welcoming than it has in the past and from reading the posts below i now understand why. I went in and had a great pint of Longman's best and shared an enjoyable hour with a group watching the rugby and a bit of banter with the bar staff. My second visit also came about due to the rugby and they put it on the tv for me although it was early in the evening and I was the only one watching and this time I had a Dark Star Hophead. Once again the staff were very welcoming and did everything possible to make sure I had a good time. My last visit was the evening after with my sceptical girlfriend who is very knowledgeable about her beer. She couldn't get over how good the place had become and was very impressed with the condition of the beer, the staff and the pub in general. So, if like her, you were put off visiting in the past then give the place another go. If you enjoy sport then they have pretty much everything covered but there's still places to sit if you just want a quiet pint. The service is second to none, there is a great jukebox and now that Christmas is approaching there is even a life-sized Santa automaton that dances and sings in English and Spanish - worth the trip alone -believe me. For me, I personally prefer it to the FILO and the Jenny Lind and will definately be returning on my next trip to Hastings. PDWR - 25 Nov 2013 14:07 |

After reading the comments on this venue I just had to post. wow what can I say this pub is now under new management and has had a fantastic refurb. it really is a lovely place to go with a great atmosphere. The pub now has sky sports and bt. sports with three tvs. fantastic juke box with every hit since 1952. They have 3 real ales on and a fantastic selection of bottled bitters. not to mention a wide range of great tasting lagers. its lovely to see a pub reopen in the heart of hastings old town. The Landlord and landlady are very bubbly and take an active interest in all of their customers. very attentive barstaff too. all in all im am so pleased to say this really is a great pub pubresearch - 1 Oct 2013 13:52 |
I used to pass by this small unassuming pub but on hearing karaoke one night I went in. Its a nice find; the staff and clientelle were friendly, its a simple, traditional pub, with a proud boast of having the cheapest prices for drinks in Hastings. It made me think about paying over the odds at other pubs. I've now been in on an afternoon, and its not crowded, there's music that is not intrusive, and its a place to chat with friends. greentop90 - 14 Sep 2012 14:18 |
