We had a disastrous experience at this place in April 2010 - steer well clear of it. We were warned of a delay in service but it was 2 hours before food arrived. One other table left without eating because of the delay and the other diners also complained. Waiting staff were standing around idle but the tables were not cleared and the drinks service was hopeless. When we complained we were met with complete disinterest. It was clear that there was no one in authority running the place as the junior staff on site had to keep telephoning the owner for instructions as to how to deal with us. The lady that appeared to be the lead waitress had her baby in a car in the car park and had to keep leaving to attend. When the owner finally turned up after we demanded someone in authority we were met by nothing but disinterest and aggression. A diabolical place that I am surprised survives. Try the Bayview Hotel just up the road - the other end of the scale, brilliant Irish hospitality in ever department. roamingdiner - 15 May 2010 18:50 |
Having 'dined' in Sweeneys on Saturday 11 April 09, I can honestly say NEVER AGAIN. From being served still frozen pizza to sitting on seating so badly ripped that the stiffing was hanging out, from being charged for 4 non existent meals, to waiting so long for a main course to be sent back and re-cooked that I cancelled it and went without, this experience really had it all!! Truly dreadful. I can only hope that no tourists ever eat there. fabulous - 14 Apr 2009 20:44 |
SHOCKING SERVICE ! Sunday 11 May 2008 - arrived at 7:50pm. 8:20pm waitress took our order for food and drink. 8:45pm had to ask waitress to bring the drinks we had ordered. 8:50 food arrrived. Now I know I'm in laid back Ireland (and we weren't in a hurry) but my point is the place wasn't busy and rather than serving us / bringing our drinks the waitress was clearing a table. The waitress' name is carla so if you must go make sure she doesn't serve you !! RabC - 28 May 2008 16:29 |
