A Punch Tavern with just Courage Best on the ale front,Nice large beer patio at front where i sat in the sun. food looked ok though but nothing overly amazing.6.5/10 fat_beer_badger - 13 Jul 2010 14:16 |
Been in worse, apparently better than it used to be? Not my kind of pub (chain food sort of thing). No decent guest ales. uriahheep - 3 Jun 2010 19:20 |
I used to do some work at the Talbot a few years ago, back when it was a nice family oriented pub with a full a la carte menu and two proper chefs, not microwave technicians like nowadays. When the management changed after Ben & Donna went, the place went downhill. Pool table installed, along with the associated weapon rack for the cues and the obligatory bouncers on the door. I went into the talbot today. I am 20 years old and went in with my 16 year old cousin for a coke and a sandwich before visiting Keynsham highstreet. We arrived at the talbot at 12:30 and I ordered 2 cokes at the bar. The Barmaid asked me for Id which I produced but she would not serve me as my cousin was not 18. It is however a family pub, we were NOT ordering alcohol and were wanting to order food. She said if I was not the parent or gaurdian of my cousin she couldnt serve us??? I asked to see the manager, showed her my ID,explained we only wanted a coke and some food, and asked her politey to explain the policy. She refused saying "I dont care how old you are you're not her mum so Im not serving you" She asked us to leave humiliating us with no explanation. Since when was there a rule about buying a coke and a sandwich for a anyone other than a fanily member at lunchtime, in a pub that serves food to families? If I wanted two Vokdkas I could understand but this was ludicrous and humiliating I will be filing a formal complaint. stephaniemay53 - 22 Feb 2008 21:26 |
