This is a decent corner pub in the Little Chelsea area of the town. There are two distinct areas - a main bar area and a slightly larger area for seating. But, the pub is relatively small. 4 TV screens were showing live football, with 2 showing a Premier League match and a further 2 showing a Championship match. Staff and customers were friendly and happy to recommend their beers of choice. Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter was on. The 3 guests were Long Man American Pale Ale, Gun Extra Pale & Exmoor Exile Apollo. Ciders were Weston's Old Rosie & Thatcher's Stan's Big Apple. Nice community local. blue_scrumpy - 27 Oct 2019 10:10 |
Three ales on handpump, the Hylder blond was o.k. but a tad warm ,worth a visit but I would not hurry back, they offer 10p off on production of a valid CAMRA card ( other Eastbourne pubs have the same offer , the Dew Drop Inn, 15 yards away for one). The decor is that encountered in a gentlemans club, they have Sky Sports and two barmaids who are bored out of their minds, they try but the job is clearly not vocational, eating chocolate is more of a priority, and why not the place was completely devoid of customers. slerpy - 3 Sep 2013 22:35 |
As you enter the pub, you are confronted with a large area with an odd assortment of furniture laid out in a rather haphazard fashion. The bar had 4 handpumps but only 2 real ales when I was there but they were unusual and from local brewers. At the far end there is a pool table. Although it was Saturday night, I felt that the music was over loud and not very pleasant, causing customers to almost shout to be heard. As a result the noise levels were rather high and it was not very relaxing. boozers_knows - 11 Oct 2012 13:41 |
Vistited the pub on a Friday and it was very busy mainly with officestaff. Expensive beer but in a good condition. Food is maily sausages and pies from all the over the UK. markos - 2 Oct 2012 21:55 |
Popped in a couple of times whilst visiting Eastbourne. Beers in good condition including Dark Star American Pale Ale. Also handy for nearby station. spikefromsurrey - 17 Sep 2012 22:18 |
