Visited on friday evening with 2 friends, one of which was visiting from up North. Walked in to be greeted by some half heads who had already been served too many drinks and were out to cause grief. Stupid drunken comments to every new person who entered the pub, we raised concerns to the bar staff of the danger of these idiots causing offence and high probability of them starting a fight at some point, ignored and they just continued serving them with more alcohol.

Predictions came true and conflict commenced, luckily broken up as the innocent other party moved on to enjoy a drink elsewhere.

This seemed to be the only place without door supervision hence the reason the half heads probably took refuge.

If this place has got to get their money from drunken idiots then I would recommend steering clear.

Looked like a nice pub with nice decor and good range of beers but will never know as wont be stepping foot back in the doors!

The Cob and Pen is about to change it's name back to it's original name of The White Hart this week and a Funday has been organised for Sunday 4th September 2011 to celebrate it. This is to help raise funds for the local RNLI and MacMillan Cancer Support with lots for the family including a live broadcast from Spirit FM Radio.

This is a great family pub during the day with a secluded and secure grassed garden for the kids with a play area. The pub is over 200 years old and boasts it's own indoor well. It is beautifully decorated having just been refurbished. The hosts are a nice welcoming couple who have much experience in the industry.
The real ales are exceptionally well looked after, with a good range of bottled and tapped largers and ciders to boot.
Although there is no food at the present there are plans for the kitchen to open in a week or so, doing a variety of meals with a nice selection of home made specials, Cream teas and ice creams are to come too.
The pub is busy and lively in the evening having not just pool and darts but bar billiards too. The locals seem a nice friendly crowd.
The frontage has changed to be more welcoming with plants and seating.
An all round a pleasant place to visit, well worth a try.
