Having recently revisited this pub, I'm pleased to change my opinion. There is a friendly atmosphere, staff are pleasant and the beer was good. Feels like a proper local pub. Sneazel - 15 Jan 2013 10:39 |
I liked this pub before it changed hands. I visited again under the new management in June 2012; my husband and I were the only customers. I was served a dreadful pint of one of a Copper Dragon ale which was totally undrinkable. I was told it's supposed to be taste that way. I'd just enjoyed this ale in another pub in Skipton and know what it should taste like. Not only was the landlord happy to serve vinegar in place of ale, but he refused to change the pint. That is unforgiveable and shortsighted. When a new customer came in and asked for the same ale, he was served it with the comment that 'it is an acquired taste'. Doubly insulting as it was obviously a barb aimed at me. (I left so I don't know if the chap drank it.) Sneazel - 1 Jan 2013 15:25 |
One of just five pubs I have visited in Skipton. This has a prime location on the canal and has recently reopened. The new publicans were friendly, down to earth, honest folks and appeared to be "having a go" to make this place a success. I wish them well. This was the only pub where I found the locally brewed Copper Dragon. I sampled the Golden Pippin and the Bitter. Both very well kept and below 3 /pint. tarkatherotter - 21 Jun 2012 22:14 |
Visited this pub on Sat afternoon. Good quality beer and friendly staff & locals. My missus wanted a hot chocolate but they couldn't do one, however they did make her a cup of tea which she enjoyed (she had been shopping so preferred a hot drink, unlike me!). Look forward to another visit soon. Mr_ESB_Harry - 17 Jul 2011 22:04 |
