The only other pub in Midlan Road was the Midland Inn nearly opposite the Swan. The new tenant had just moved in and was starting to decorate the bar when the area manager walked in and told them to stop work as the brewery had just sold the building to Gardiner Haskins. Within a few weeks it was demolished and turned into more car park. The nearby Wadworth's pub was the Pride of the Forest in Unity Street. The outer shell still remains as the end wall of Gardiners Garden Centre! TalbotHill - 28 Jul 2009 11:18 |
UNDERGOING TRANSFORMATION INTO FLATS AT PRESENT. The Bath Ales man from the Bridge Inn wanted to buy it but the council sold it to property developers because they offered more. Does a city council not have a obligation to its citizens to keep social amenities open. No pub on this street now, there was another one on the opposite side down towards the railway bridge,a Wadworth house, now derelict. an_ecunemical_matter - 12 Nov 2006 11:27 |
