This was one of the busiest & best pubs in Lancs in the 80's and still was very lively when I last saw a band there. Of the 4 pubs at the village crossroads, this is the biggest inside and has something for everyone: cosy, quiet rooms at the front with real fires if you want to dine or just chill on a comfy sofa, and a long bar area leading to the pool area at the back. Been done up quite a bit in recent years with a mixed sort of shabby chic look. Serves Peroni on draft and has a couple of handpumps. Food is classic pub fayre but looks good value, especially if a senior. Didn't try anything, but chef said kitchen was all new and has a good hygiene rating. Great beer garden for the dog out back with a view of local hills. Make sure you buy a parking ticket I'm told or get a penalty, but you can get the money for parking off in the pub. Worth a visit, especially at weekend for live music. locallancslad - 18 Sep 2011 12:37 |
