Visited again a few times now over the last few months. Something is amiss here it would seem. The real ale offerings always seem to be some small micro brewery type beers. This would be acceptable if they were carrying at lease one standard beer, say for instance Ringwood, Doom Bar or even, dare I say it, Courage, that was always an option to these 'guest ales'. Every time you go in all the ales are different and sometimes not in the best of condition. They also appear to be supplied from Enterprise Inns 'bargain basement' selection. Do I detect a problem.......I hope not, but only time will tell. wolvesfan - 20 May 2015 12:20 |
I kind of agree with the post given below. Bit of a nothing pub that could be so much more. But the beer is usually of fairly good quality. However, I think it is worth a visit..........at least the once. wolvesfan - 13 May 2014 17:23 |

Have visited three times in the past on an evening when the food has been excellent, especially their pies. Went on the 19th April 2011 at midday and what a let down. It was AWFUL in comparison and the four of us were let down. Warmed up food was served. Stick to an evening but FORGET lunchtimes. Never again. easytoplease - 3 May 2011 06:10 |
Food was great and a lovely choice of ales, lager choice is good but not my thing. I prefer the rotation on the ales myself usually at least a local ale and a few guests always served at a refreshing good temperature. On sunny days a seat in the beer garden goes down well too. Good hearty main menu and great portions so you won't go hungry. Good selection on the specials if you fancy something a bit different. The pub isn't my local but its not a million miles away either and I make a visit at least once a month or on the odd occassion when they have some music on (steve carroll) very funny. Bed and Breakfast rooms are great too as some relatives used them whilst staying for a family gathering and told me how big the rooms were and a very reasonable price too. I know the Landlord and Lady well and they strive to keep all their customers very happy on those busy summer days or winter afternoons when the open logfire is kept burning. It keeps me going back and a recommend a visit! UBDA - 11 Aug 2010 12:54 |
