I last wrote and visited Nov 2008. Have returned as i said and, were surprised, i tried the pork chop and the pan fried salmon over a couple of days, and it was a pleasure on the plate and, tasty to boot, presented in fine a la carte style, the service was good also, as were the beer, (john Smiths). The only downside was two of our party tried the baked potatoes, which were over done and burnt on one meal. A simple complaint to the waitress fell on deaf ears when she asked how our meals were. The rowdy beer swilling cavalcade of drinkers adjacent the eating area, let the side down. not the sort of thing you want when your having a plesant meal. This apart a fine improvement james55westhead - 29 Mar 2010 15:41 |
recently booked a table for one pm only to be told bluntly when we arrived on time our table wasn't ready and we should sit at the bar, we explained this wasn't an option as one of our party was 80 and couldn't exactly climb a bar stool but no help was offered so we had to find a chair for her ourselves, during the wait we were made to feel like we were in the way. the final straw came around half past when the woman we assume was the owner complained rather loudly about us not being booked in until half past and we should not have 'f*ing' been there until half past and other similar rude things, however is was obvious at this stage we wouldn't have been seated until closer to two pm anyway as there were no tables available still and the only people anywhere close to leaving were only just ordering puddings! we gave up at this point and went to a different pub who were happy to have us! we have been regulars in the past and we understand mistakes happen but since this is how they handle their own errors I won't be setting foot in there again after this disgraceful display. They are ok for a drink I guess (although almost no head on one of the beers we ordered and the lemonade tasted flat so not fantastic) but wouldn't trust them with a booking, especially not a large one vulpes - 22 Mar 2010 08:08 |
Visited this pub after many, many years, picked up a relative who lives in the local, who,d informed me that it had been "done up" decorated in other words.Taken over by some company called FGL.Anyhow my uncles John smiths bitter came up too the usual standard, and so did my Speckled Hen from the old pull, very scrumptious.Prices for food very good for the area, and what we saw and had was very well presented and cooked, the only downside was that there was Too much on your plate...Mainly chips/salad in our case, which seemed be the case of everyone we noticed eating..The meal was over portioned by this, and of course duly left by all, who,d had there fill..The place was clean efficient, and a well organised young barmaid, made it apleasure to be in there. We shall be going back, when in the area, but i do hope they cut the chip/salad portion down, and make this a thriving little hostelery,,,, james55westhead - 4 Nov 2008 03:51 |
