It is a local's pub, generally fine for outsiders/visitors although does attract some weirdos/dpdgy types in the summer months when the weather is warm enough to sit outside, so I usually only pop in during the winter whilst travelling from South Norwood to Penge.(only pub on that road) Shows sport - had Sky Premiership football on all the screens, but at customers request switched to rubgy on the BBC on ones of them. Tribute was £3.70, tasty. southlondonbeero - 20 Nov 2016 09:44 |
I agree with Aido1234.You can't judge a pub by what goes on outside. I've fiund it extremely friendly & welcoming with an excellent owner & fantastic bar staff who have a zero tolerance policy on drugs.Never seen any problems with racism or rowdiness & I know neither would be tolerated. Pay a visit teacake & be prepared for a pleasant surprise. RockChick1 - 28 Sep 2014 19:40 |
I think you are very unfair with your comments tea cake ,I see you've never been in this pub?! Well then maybe you shouldn't judge, have you ever worked in a pub? If yes then you shouldn't judge and if you haven't then leave those who do to get on with there jobs they also have to make a living, remember tea cake what ever happens outside has nothing got to do with the pub. This is anerley/penge not MAYFAIR but those new people in the mitre have done a lot of good since they moved in. I new a person once who tried to be somebody they never were going to be,,,,,, they put everyone and everything down and lost a lot of friends along the way, regards. Aido1234 - 10 Sep 2014 20:53 |
This pub is awful. Have I ever been in it? NO. Would I ever go in it? NO. I have however lived across the road from it for 4 years and in that time I've seen some things! If fights/shouting/swearing/dog fights (one I saw a dog got carried away-think it was dead)/racism and domestic violence are your thing then this is the pub for you! If not- stay well clear. They did introduce a no kids/hoodies etc rule after the refurb- didn't last. An example of the type of people that drink there for you. A small car accident happened outside a few weeks ago involving a Muslim man (nothing to do with the pub) some mitre drinkers proceeded to shout obviously uneducated rants about Al Qaeda to encourage the other man to "bash him up". I sound like a curtain twitcher and I guess I am when it comes to this pub. Still it's better than being a drinker there! Teacake - 1 Aug 2014 18:04 |
