Quite a choice in Stow on the Wold. None in the 2017 GBG, so I took pot luck. This Donnington Tied house added a nice symmetry to my walk, having passed the brewery earlier. A quintessential English countryside boozer. Everything you could want. Walk details and photos at my blog - http://bit.ly/2d6r9Nf Mappiman - 2 Oct 2016 18:29 |
Decent pub. Wood and stone. Stone floor. Three Donnington beers (local and traditional and hard to find outside of Gloucester, but quite unremarkable). A nice beer garden. Relaxed atmosphere. Nice landlord. In in all a decent place, though somehow it lacks something. There's pubs like this all over the place, and this has nothing to really make it stand out. However, I quite liked it. I wouldn't recommend it, and next time I'm in Stow I'd like to try some of the other pubs, but I would be quite happy to come back here. SilkTork - 18 Apr 2014 16:44 |
Visited here for the afternoon. Fantastic, great locals giving the place a buzz. Had lunch, local produced cooked well and good value. Brilliant landlord and good staff. Local Donnington ale. Well worth visiting. hoplover - 29 Oct 2013 22:26 |
By far the most comfortable and most pub-like in Stow. Feels very traditional and even had the interesting locals and knowledgeable landlord to prove it. Decent Donnington ales on offer, all of which were very good indeed. Recommended. twohalves - 5 Oct 2013 09:40 |
Had the Donningtons BB and a Sunday roast. Both very enjoyable and excellent service. Good traditional pub. Plenty options in Stow but this is a must try. cheekypheasant - 18 Aug 2013 15:40 |
