A pub going downhill quickly. Toilets were run down, the staff pretty useless and prices are expensive now. We didnt eat, but the people on the table next to us were complaining about the food and waiting for it for an hour! No atmosphere and the beer was pretty awfull. Shall not be going again! A place to avoid in this very pleasant area full of expensive houses. noggin46 - 16 Apr 2011 21:15 |
Went there recently for the first time in ages, food was "disappointing". DoctorRadio description pretty accurate. son_of_odin - 10 Aug 2010 07:36 |
Andy and Di are no longer at the Wheatsheaf, more's the pity. they moved to the Altisidora at Bishop Burton. The Wheatsheaf has had a few managers but none whose name us regulars even discovered. Lounge is now pretty devoid of any atmosphere at all. Still some Jenning guest ales. Food is pretty awful the last 2 times we tried it. DoctorRadio - 23 Jan 2008 18:48 |

Well managed (Andy and Di) two bar in rural village. Bar has pool, darts and TV while the lounge has separate small restaurant, excellent bar meals (12 to 9pm) plus conservatory. Staff are either excellent, or uninterested in serving (depends who you get) but drinks are wide ranging, Mansfield (Smoth riding is excellent) plus widely varied guest beers, including the relatively rare (in Hull) Cockermouth brews at times. Always well kept. Good spacious car park, - an excellent pub. Paul Rusling - [email protected] - 21 Apr 2005 11:54 |
