Very badly damaged by fire at the weekend. wirraldrinker - 11 Sep 2017 20:29 |
Fine dining at this gastro pub. They keep the beers well. denmans - 10 Sep 2016 12:12 |
A bit of a difference now to the previous review, the pub has been extensively renovated, and its interior is far more that of a gastro pub with prices to match! A pint of Woodfordes Mardlers Mild was 3.60! I felt out of place just having a drink so retired to the pleasant outside garden area, where an old boy regaled me with tales of when it was a real locals pub etc etc.... Hodge1 - 2 Jul 2012 15:30 |
This pub is advertised as one of only two that are owned by Woodfordes brewery (the other is the Fur and Feather, the brewery tap, at Woodbastwick). Seeing as Woodforde's Wherry is a champion beer of Britain it was great to come across this pub and find the range of Woodforde's beers and full Sunday lunchtime menu. But the price! They cannot be serious? It was 3.10 for a pint of Nelson's Revenge - and the landlady retorted to the shock horror expression on my face with "It's expensive to keep real ales"! Well others manage to do it for almost 1 a pint cheaper. And the food is costly also - 5.50 for soup as a starter; 8.95 for Sunday roast when all the nearby pubs start at around 6. No wonder the pub was not busy - and its a bit run down too. Sorry Woodforde's, you need to get a grip of this pub and get your act together on pricing. GrahamH - 3 Jun 2007 23:58 |
