Pretty good – a large neighbourhood pub with pool table and great beers (Bristol Beer Factory was very well represented), a wisecracking barman, a pleasant tiered garden and a varied clientele (a good thing). Likely to become something of a haunt. BoehmBawerk - 18 Apr 2022 20:59 |
Yes it is true to say that this pub does get it's fair share of characters being at what is a pretty rough end of town. A comfortable feel to the place with various interesting seating areas. Good prices too my otter beer was £2.70 and a glass of wine for the mrs was cheap too. One of the better pubs in Exeter. 7/10 montie49 - 28 Nov 2012 07:38 |
Always reliable real ale pub (under current ownership) with Doom Bar, Otter and stronger/summer ales always on tap. If it ain't perfect they'll change it. All the usual cooking and ranting lagers. Food is wholesome with big portions and home-cooked, all served by crisis-inducingly attractive bar and kitchen maids. Long bar with pool/games area round the side with plenty of room for the varied clientele to mix or avoid each as suits. Frequented by eclectic clientele of local geysers, students, townies having one on the way into town, more students, singing Welshmen, townies who never made it into town, bedsit wierdo's, ex-students gone native, incorrigible scrotes, gits and odd normal. Dogs welcome, home to a great pub dog who has, thankfully, stopped leg-humping. Regular bands, usually of a geyser variety, to jump and down and pretend it's 1982 again to. Quizzes, film-nights and conversation of a level of inanity rarely found today. A sun-trap seating area out the back. The only real pub left in central Exeter. Amen. Mr_Jollyur - 12 Oct 2012 14:21 |
