Have to concur with the previous comment. The landlady is of the proper Irish variety, speaks her mind and does not suffer fools gladly. Be polite, and when needed give as good as you get, and you will unlock a fantastic pub experience. Genial banter quickly flows from both mine host and the regulars, and an afternoon will quickly run away with you. The beer is utterly flawless, both the Tribute and Landlord were pure nectar, while the Butty Batch and HPA were also in fine form. Will certainly be paying a return visit to what I believe to be Winchcombe's best pub.

Interesting comments from the previous reviewer. I would class the landlady as fiesty rather than rude. I had a robust conversation about whether they did pear cider (pump, no pear cider) or whether they did anything other than sunday lunches (full menu on display outside) and lost both. However, the Timothy Taylor Landlord was the best I have had outside Skipton and I could have gone on an epic tour of Ireland from the variety of whiskeys on display. A proper pub.

I went to Winchcombe to he street fair and music festival. I was horrified by the rudeness of the staff at this pub. When my friend ordered our first round his change was thrown back at him by the landlady. Our second round there, there was something wrong with my Real Ale. I had 2 sips and took it back, the barmaid said it was a new barrel and would not change it. So I left 95% of my pint on the bar and left. we went down the road to another pub and the couple in front of us at the bar said that they had left this pub because of the rudeness of the staff. Please avoid- places like this need to go out of business and need new landlords, I hate it when people think they can get away with treating customers like dirt.

Fantastic character pub, plenty of atmosphere and a very warm welcome!
Excelent beer looked after by woman that realy knows what real ale is all about! They also do a good B & B! Will go there again on our travels.

Popped in here for lunch on a recent Cotswold break. Tribute beer that I had was excellent and two others were also on. Had a baguette and fries for lunch and for the money it was good value and the fries were outstanding. Quite quiet when we visited, but i'm sure that's because it was in mid October.
