Sought out this place whilst on a walking holiday recently. Received a warm welcome from staff, locals and Teddy the house Briard. Excellent choice of beers - from memory there were 5 handpumps - I would normally have been more than satisfied with Dark Star Hophead but the Moor So'Hop was even better. Food also excellent and reasonably priced. Re the previous post; By bizarre coincidence, another one of my recent walks took me past The Stanhope Arms in Brasted. I considered going in but was put off by the reviews on BITE!! HarryHawthorn - 21 Nov 2013 09:09 |
Hi amazingrace - thankyou for your great reviews of the Stanhope Arms in Kent. As the owners of the Bottle Inn in Marshwood, I would like to enlighten you of a few facts. The Bottle Inn has never been run by the landlord of the Stanhope Arms although he has lorded it about that he is the landlord - hey you need to pay rent to do this! This man is not to be trusted as you have probably worked out! Thanks again for your insight on this man!! - we agree!!!!!! Polly111 - 29 Oct 2013 08:13 |
If you wish to know about the landlords of this pub, then you better check out their latest venture at 'The Stanhope Arms' in 'Brasted' Kent. Put some time aside though as the locals seem to have a lot on them and a severe dislike, have fun reading...... amazingrace - 28 Sep 2013 23:04 |
for a real ale fanatic like me this is a real find. Some excellent and unusual beers on offer at reasonable prices. Friendly, bohemian and homely. A welcome change from the anticeptic and soulless Hunters Lodge type pub further up the road charging £8.15 for a pint and a vodka and tonic !! Dogs are welcome here but sadly so are children. Call me Victor but I don't find loads of sprogs running around very pleasureable in what should be an adult environment. Sadly this takes some of the gloss off the place. Overall though the good points outweigh the bad. westbound - 16 Aug 2013 18:36 |
Now open and serving six high quality real ales from small independent breweries. The beer menu is kept up-to-date on their website. We had perfectly kept Yeovil Posh IPA, Exe valley "It's Phils Ale" and Mighty Hop Nut Brown Ale. A great pub to visit after a walk on the coast. Mark888 - 5 May 2013 21:02 |
