Hugely friendly pub with a choice of three ales (including the local Mithril Ales brewery) and some seriously good food. While not the cheapest in the area, probably amongst the best food for quality and imagination. The pub is more laid out as a restaurant, but you can still veg at the bar with your pint. Have enjoyed a couple of really good evenings here with great food and ale and will be returning when I'm next up this way. fazerblue - 6 May 2012 18:50 |
Always enjoyed good beer at this pub - they show real enthusiasm for keeping and serving real ale and there always seems to be some new brew to try on my visits. Good eating too. Why can't all pubs be like this? ironhorse - 20 Feb 2010 21:12 |
Stayed here, had an excellent meal and enjoyed the landlady's bonhomie tremendously - but not as much as the four beautifully-kept cask ales. Black Sheep and Daleside are regulars and star guest on my visit was a lovely pint of Askrigg Ale, brewed down the road. Fun and welcoming locals. Breathtaking views. Only black mark is no dogs other than Mondays or Tuesdays. hedropsforglory - 28 Feb 2009 02:06 |
This pub serves consistently excellent beer. The owners show real interest in serving a variety of beers which change regularly. Hostess always friendly and efficient. Good for an evening meal either bar or restaurant but it is wise to book. Steve.Ottevanger - 4 Oct 2008 18:08 |
We found this on their website and it sounded ok especially with the current offer available so we tried it. The three days we spent there exceeded our expectations, the food is second to none, if you wish to go anywhere and dine through the day do NOT have a full breakfast or you will have no room to put any more food, be warned. The welcome and hospitality from Toni and Mike, the warm clean rooms, have to be experienced to be believed. Attractions locally are all interesting, check on a map. We went to Beamish and that was superb too. No we are not related!! sturdle - 4 Feb 2005 17:43 |
