| A fairly unasumming pub from the outside, looks like a normal pub. Inside its warm and friendly, the staff are very friendly and willing to help. Food is good pub food, the lasagne is yummy. A pub with good craic! Certainly be visiting again. johnnyforiegner - 12 Sep 2009 22:58 |
| One if the worst pubs that I have ever been to. No one was at the bar & in fact no one was in the whole place. A lady came out the back & served us for our drinks (Rip off prices for 2 cokes - �7). Gave us a few menus�s and told us to sit down anywhere & someone would be with us soon. We sat down waiting half an hour for someone to serves us, but obviously talking about what they was going to do for the night was more important than serving customers. | Saturday evening and just got back from the Reindeer. had a really lovely meal. Food was very good, service was what I would call relaxed, we did not feel rushed at all. Overall a very enjoyable experience, would definitely recommend this place. graham1301 - 26 Jul 2008 21:57 |
| TRIED THE REINDEER FOR THE SECOND TIME LAST NIGHT AND IT WAS VERY GOOD. DARREN THE MANAGER, AND PETER THE HEAD CHEF & OWNER WERE ON DAYS OFF SO I WAS QUITE DUBIOUS AS TO HOW GOOD IT WOULD BE- BUT PETER OBVIOUSLY HAS A GOOD NUMBER TWO AND THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD, ALTHOUGH THE VEG WAS NOT AS GOOD AS PETER WOULD HAVE DONE IT. I LIKE MY VEG 'AL DENTE'- AS IT WAS ON MY FIRST VISIT, BUT IT WAS A BIT TOO OVERCOOKED FOR ME LAST NIGHT. MAYBE IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO ASK CUSTOMERS WHEN THEY ARE ORDERING "DO YOU LIKE YOUR VEG 'AL DENTE' OR 'WELL COOKED' - JUST A SUGGESTION. | I am pleased to see that the last 2 reviews of the Reindeer are accurate. The ones left by 'pubexpert2008' and 'miah' describe a place unrecognisable to me as my local, which The Reindeer is. Pubexpert describes the Reindeer's burgers as 'frozen'. Not much of an expert then because Pete hand makes them himself on the premises! I know this as it was myself who first requested Pete put a burger on the menu as my partner's teenage son virtually eats nothing else. That's how accomodating Pete, Denise and their staff are. They come in 2 sizes but beware of the large one it's awesome! Myself I love what I call Pete's 'Orgasmic Scallops'.They come in a skillet with a tangy sauce and as a starter or a main, there is plenty of fresh bread to dip as you will not want to wast any sauce. Same goes for the Mussels. The Sunday Carvery is the finest I have ever had. The derogatory comments should not put anyone off, try it for yourself. The vegetable selection is vast and changes most weeks. There was even Asparagus on last week. I love the courgettes in tomato and the cheesy garlic potatoes. When peas are on they are always fresh and green whereas I have been to other places where they look almost grey. The meat is never 'overcooked' in my opinion. It just is not that sort of place! Also I think it shows how well run the Reindeer is that they are able to offer the A La Carte menu on at the same time as the Carvery. There is an extensive wine menu too. Pete and Denise have lived in Spain and I feel the main menu has a mediterranen influence. Obligingly though you have a vast lunch menu and now an early doors menu with some good Old English favourites like Faggots or Ham and Eggs. Sometimes there are Motown Nights or Ratpack, Irish etc with live entertainment. You ought to see the hot and cold Buffets that Pete and the team put on. Great night out! Well I guess you all know I love it there now and I am very lucky to live within walking distance! I will say three last words; Sticky Toffee Pudding.....you gotta try it!!!!
