| The Yarborough Hunt was my favourite pub in Brigg. It was also one of the busier establishments. There are a number of different small rooms. I counted at least 5. Cask ales were Lincolnshire Craft Beers Bomber County & Lincoln Gold, Charnwood Old School, Purity Pure Gold & Ringwood Razor Back. The real cider was Weston's Old Rosie. | Ok here goes, I'll try and write a review that meets the reviews policy.. This is going to be tough...... As stated in previous reviews which were correct at time of publish, things have changed and not for the better... Let me explain... Although the building stays the same albeit they are extending through to next door, the fabric and decor of the property is now tired and worn.. Most outside tables and decking are showing signs of rot.. Money spent here would increase footfall as all I heard from the locals were complaints about the lack of customers due to the run down nature of he place.. To be fair I've seen worse pubs.. Normally in inner cities.. The management has the opinion that employing eye candy is the only way forward.. For a real ale pub who's customers expect opinions on beer, conversation and engagement from staff, well it's just not working..they're too busy texting or eating.. The pricing of beer is on the reassuringly expensive side.. In fact it's cheaper to drink in London.. Ok you may be paying for ambience, but there isn't any.. Local beer is Tom Woods, though not a bad beer, it's consistency can vary and the better options are the guest beers. I witnessed the beer lines not being pulled through , leading to the first beer off being sour, (local and guest). This is not the bar staffs fault as thy are only doing what they've been told by the management. Bottled beers and ciders are good quality as are the Belgium beers, unfortunately the high strength of these drinks means the pub has become a Friday and Saturday night stop off on the way to getting wasted. | Exceptional smart but pleasant pub, not out of place in Manchester's Northern Quarter. Good, sensible beer range, and particularly liked the imported German beer (Augsberg). Chinese across the road is good too. mtaylor40 - 9 Jul 2011 12:26 |
