This pub is tucked away in a village away from the main A road. The rear patio overlooks fields and hills beyond. The interior is traditional and you're likely to receive a warm welcome. Ales were Black Sheep Best Bitter, Jennings Cumberland Ale, Pennine Real Blonde, Tetleys Cask, Snowhill Pale & Slaters Haka. I recommend the Extreme Chilli Pork Scratchings! Worth a visit.

Very good village pub. The beer includes Coniston brewery and the food comes in plentiful, tasty platefuls. You may need to book. The bar gets very busy and noisy quite early on a Friday and Saturday evening, but there's a very welcome separate room with soft sofas and tables for families.

As others have said, this is a great traditional pub, can get quite busy when nearby campsite in full swing. Beer is consistently great, range of around 6, Black Sheep nearly always on. Consiton Bluebird cheaper than the Brewery Tap (not difficult). Not the cheapest prices for beer or food but absolutely reliable.
Childrens' playground across the road makes happy parents.

If more pubs were like this, more would stay open. A classic 9/10.

stayed at the black beck campsite on a walking holiday with 2 mates last week and this was our local lucky us sunday night 6 real ales 2 from the nearby coniston brewery bluebirdxb and old man were both on form and between us we tried all one complaint was made about a pint of black sheep this was removed and replaced by a coniston stout called again on monday and ate there on wednesday the food was very good and a starter of spiced parsnip soup was top notch i can highly recomend this traditional southlakeland pub for both its ale and food i think the land lord shed a tear when we said we were moving on in the morning afer putting the best part of 100 in his coffers

An excellent pub, my ideal pub in just about every way!

Excellent selection of well-kept real ales. Pleasant, traditional country pub atmosphere. Superb bar food. Just want to try the accommodation next as well!

My favourite pub - the only one so far to be awarded an accolade of 10/10 by me but well worth it!
