Had a barely drinkable pint of Eagle in this 70's throwback pub. The music (which must have come from a "Worse of the 70's" compilation with such astounding classics as 'My Ding-a-Ling') was too loud for the mostly coffin dodging clientelle to converse with each other. The whole place doesn't seem to have moved on from 1973 - decor, music and customers. Wouldn't be so bad if the beer was partially edible. anonymous - 7 Nov 2010 12:14 |
Visited this pub again on Thursday. The beer was still very poor and i was shocked to see the landlord closing the pub at 20:30. Make up your own minds!! multiplexor - 11 Sep 2010 22:37 |

I tend to be very critical of pubs, and on approaching the Bat & Barrel last week, a feeling of dread surged through me. That feeling wasn't allayed when the rather angry-looking skinhead landlord sauntered up to us to take our order. In fact, he was extremely polite and courteous and seemed to know his stuff. Appearances can be deceiving! The board outside the pub advertises it as 'the worst pub in Luton' and jokes about its terrible reputation. I get the feeling that it's a sort of 'in joke'! adamcroft - 30 Jun 2009 10:08 |
A couple of weeks ago the charming Landlord persuaded me to try a pint of his real beer. It was surprisingly good-I may try another some time as it is slightly cheaper than the bottles and not so tooth crackingly cold. After the ongoing redecoration it is much nicer, pity about him. bonzoid0 - 6 May 2009 00:23 |
