Nice old pub, crouch vale Brewers gold, white Hart Ale and an adnams beer on cask. legionuk - 14 Feb 2016 08:49 |
Another very pleasant Essex pub. It has a number of outdoor drinking areas, including tables at the front, a small yard at the rear and a grassy area at the back of the car park. The interior is small but cosy and the ale selection was limited, but of reasonably quality - Caledonian Flying Scotsman & Surf Sup & Elgoods Cambridge Bitter. The better of the 2 pubs I tried in Hockley. blue_scrumpy - 5 Jul 2015 13:57 |
Another pub that makes so much more sense in the summer. The bar and food areas are fairly minimal and old fashioned and could probably do with a tart up - I didn't see much contemporary furniture, just cheap tables and chairs and not somewhere I'd probably visit much in the winter (even though, thanks to a recently-discovered shortcut, this has suddenly become my "local". However, get the sun out and the gardens are a lovely place to while away an afternoon in the company of a decent range of beers and lagers. The food menu looked well thought out, although we didn't have time for food in the end, and service was friendly and fast. Another one for Summer not winter I'm afraid. Are there any pubs wityh roaring fires and comfy armchairs around Hockley?! glenn9ball - 16 Jul 2013 14:15 |
Again not been here for a while but good in the summer to sit outside - the young lad behind the bar is good with service and know-how and the very regulers have a big sporting bias esp. the footie. The various real ales have always been good - worth a drop by. Mcloj - 17 Oct 2012 11:21 |
Very friendly pub with well kept ale and good food. The hot beef baguette was excellent. And, if you think 3.30 for a 5% beer is expensive, I suggest you take out a bank loan and go to Broadstairs. skatalite - 13 Aug 2012 19:25 |
