Pub has settled down and regular customers are in evidence particularly diners at weekends and lunch times. Good food and beer, normally one choice of real ale only but landlord tells me he is getting another line put in shortly. Customers are a bit thin on the ground during the week, but that is true everywhere now unfortunately. Dangliebitz - 2 Sep 2011 17:50 |
This pub is no longer a Hungry Horse, but under the new landlord ( since early Summer 2010) it serves excellent food at reasonable prices up to about 10 pm. The landlord has also weeded out most of the undesirables which used to make the air blue. Dangliebitz - 29 Oct 2010 19:47 |
After over a year of avoiding this pub like the plague, I have recently heard good things about it via word of mouth after new people have taken it over esp concerning the food. Well I can happily report that after paying the Anchor a visit and sampling the delights on offer, I am more than happy to recommend the food to all, We ordered a half chicken roast at 7.50 ea and oh my god did we get a whopping dish of freshly cooked fare which tasted delicious and more than satisfied our needs. Ok you may have to have a longer than average wait for food but please remember this is freshly cooked food and not the microwaved rubbish that is served in chain pubs. Will defo go back and recommend to others. What a difference a year makes. Old_School - 29 Aug 2010 20:35 |
As a pub lover, but unfortunate enough to actually live near this particular establishment, it is currently closed and will hopefully remain so. Sometimes it is not actually the pub that is the fault, or even its location. In this instance it is the particular clientle that perspective managers/brewery do not seem to be able (or want to) get away from, which is a great shame. I_Like_good_Pubs - 20 Feb 2009 19:16 |
It's currently closed but has a sign outside saying that it's under new management and will be re-opening soon. Let's hope they clean it up and turn it into a great local. makinpost - 20 Feb 2009 15:41 |
