| This was OK enough, but we found the prices rather high. There were two real ales on: Deuchars IPA and Marstons Pedigree. I though the various bits of artwork depicting gallowses, as the origin of the name, were a bit tired and unfunny, and didn't add any sort of quirky interest for me. | One of only 2 pubs we visited on grassmarket and was well worth it. Not massive selection of ale but well served and quick considering they were rammed. Good old décor like most pubs in the city. Had a good selection of other alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks for your friends too - warmed port with honey and a 'pooh bear (hot milk, nutmeg, honey and cinnamon) both very nice. busker999 - 8 Apr 2013 20:50 |
| Went here last Saturday evening. Very busy as you would expect so we sat outside on a chilly. No complaints about that as the atmosphere was great. Lots of stag and hen parties passing so that added to the enjoyment. Good choice of beer and whisky. | Good beer, Deuchar's IPA, check. Good food, check. Horrendous anti-immigrant racist barmaid - unfortunately, check. My visit was Monday 21 November. They have a comments blackboard in the gents so I chalked up my disgust and attached my twitter name @scotchtwit. No reply from the shameful people so far.
