Reopened after major refurbishment, costing £1.4 million. tradervic - 12 Apr 2020 13:22 |
I've generally found the Blackfriars reasonably congenial. But one Saturday in mid-November I wandered in. No-one behind the bar. An individual seated at a table close by put down his paper, got to his feet and went there. I requested a pint. It was poured, handed over, paid for and change given. And, though I made some attempt to speak to him, he uttered not one sound. Curmudgeonly in the extreme and, I suspect, the boss. Really has put me off. joegreen - 19 Dec 2013 21:51 |
Went there in April 2013. Big old barn of a place. Good beers and pleasant staff, locals also very friendly. Worth a visit. Worgeorge - 10 May 2013 15:43 |
Reasonable enough ale house with a number of decent ales on. A bit worn around the edges though beer was okay and the old bloke who seemed to run the place was pleasant enough. anonymous - 6 Nov 2012 18:02 |
Still up for sale, still a good selection of ales for Scottish breweries. On the night: Inveralmond, Strathaven, Orkney, Cairngorm, Cromarty. Even more ciders. Friendly and with a very good band that night. Lupulus - 28 Aug 2012 13:45 |
