Called at this pub yesterday for lunch but it is closed on Mondays! And this is peak season in a very popular tourist area! Then people wonder why pubs close through lack of business!

Not a bad pub, friendly young staff on our visit at a Sunday dinnertime - which saw the pub full with diners. It seemed to tend towards the gastro pub market in this respect, and the foor was perhaps a little over priced (10.50+) but of good quality and well presented. Beer is the usual Palmers range (including Tally Ho! in bottles, for those wanting something from the dark side).

This pub is now under new, cheerful management. Forget the negative comments about glaring landladies - all has now changed. Try the Half Moon for a warm, smiling welcome, staff that are pleased to see you and on a sunny day sit in the pretty pub garden which is being returned to its former glory and enjoy the stunning West Dorset scenery. The new landlords promise fish and steak special evenings and food is served every day. Try this pub and if you happen to talk to a local you will find they are happy and smiling too! Too early for full rating.

Great location, had high hopes for this but definitely not a welcoming pub. Interior is modern, ales are average for the area-mostly Palmers. Bar staff stared in our direction uneasily until we retreated to the garden to avoid the glares! it wasn;t busy so perhaps the sight of two non locals was too much to bear!
