A very foody pub, with well kept good Black Sheep. We went to eat on the 'early bird' menu and were blown away with the quality of the food, it was truly excellent. Service was also good and atmophere/decor nice. It's get's an 8 from me for the super food, however if I was judging as a drinker alone then it would proably get a lower mark as only a small area for drinkers. lill1971 - 4 Oct 2009 20:58 |
This pub has recently been taken over by the team who made such a success of The Bruce Arms, West Tanfield for the past 10 years. The welcome was exceptional - I was made to feel like a long lost friend - and the service impeccable. Everything on the menu was tempting and my final choice was beautifully presented and the locally sourced ingredients were a joy to eat. Black Sheep beer well kept and very welcome after a long walk across the North Yorkshire Moors! I'll be back to try some of the other dishes! anonymous - 13 Apr 2007 16:00 |
Mainly a mecca for eaters. However, there is a small area, essentially the first room, which is set aside for drinkers. One had found, over several visits, that the ale is usually well up to scratch - and, mercifully, one is not made to feel too unwelcome when visiting purely as a seeker after ale. dirigent - 30 Oct 2006 09:50 |
