What a shock returning to see this. The Ironmongers was great and had character. This place is rubbish now. petethepub - 5 Aug 2009 20:11 |
Awful, awful, awful. A plaque outside proudly announces that this used to be the only pub in the country called the Ironmongers, and that the pub can trace its presence back centuries....now someone has had the bright idea of obliterating all trace of the previous pub, and re-naming it Boltz (or "Boltz - The Experience", as their sign has it), adding lots of stripped pine, and turning it into a formulaic production-line bar selling bog-standard production-line beer. Why brag about the pub's history on the outside if you want to avoid all trace of what used to be there? Very sad - one to be avoided. MarkinSussex - 2 Jul 2008 16:41 |
I used to go to this pub when it was the Ironmongers it was great. All sorts of characters two manky but comfy armchairs great atmosphere the only baseball cap in sight was donned by the old feller that propped up the bar every night great free jukebox Returned to Norwich a few years ago to find it changed to the Boltz took one look at it shed a tear and fled to the Vine geopaz - 2 Aug 2007 11:47 |

Rubish people behind the bar! talk about mutton dressed as lamb! Let in the dross, and thats what you get. May as well drink in the Pottergate! At least thats fairly priced for crappy drinks in a crappy place! anonymous - 7 Jun 2006 02:36 |
