| The Surrey Tavern had been closed for about a year and we were worried about what may replace it. Not another Indian ,rather Bangladeshi restaurant. No, what we have is a pub and a good one. The staff are friendly and they have three real ales on. We had Sharps Doombar and although it was our intention of only having a quick one we ended up drinking 3 pints of it. The front bar seems to be pretty much the same as before but the room at the back has been nicely done up. It has a rustic feel with a pale green interior. Outside there is a large area of decking that will be a good place to sit on a warm day. They have an extensive food menu and are now open normal pub hours instead of the old early evening close and nothing on Saturdays. This used to be a Norwich Union employees pub and virtually used to keep office hours.
