My wife & I had Christmas dinner here for the first time, it was excellent, Paul & Mandy made us both very welcome, as usual, the food was excellent, with much more than we could both eat, we are looking forward to New Years eve, with them once again (ticket entry only so dont try to turn up without one), always adviseable to book this early to get a place, as it is always full (but not crowded) also has a great atmosphere with a warm & freindly welcome from Paul & Mandy, so come along & support this great Pub

I visited The saxon with my husband and 12 year old twins recently at lunchtime. I have never received such a warm welcome anywhere, especially with children, who traditionally in this country are usually confined to the dingy room at the back of the property! The selection of wines was fantastic and my husband loved the draft beers. The menu suited all the family including my fussy vegetarian daughter! Alex the Chef was especially accomodating with my son's request for a starter but with chips to make it a main meal. Paul and Mandy are the perfect hosts and I would recommend this pub without reservation! I wish all pubs were like this! Keep up the good work.

While perhaps not the prettiest or quaintest 'village pub' from the outside, the Saxon offers a very friendly welcome, great service and a wide choice of food from bar snacks to full Sunday lunches. The (relatively) new owners have transformed it from what was effectively a private drinking club into a lively and entertaining venue which, as the 'only pub in the village' is, by definition, populated primarily by 'locals'. Since said locals embrace UK and US servicemen and many escaped townies, like me, as well as the natives, its quite an eclectic mix. And unlike Royston Vasey 'incomers' are very welcome. A weekly pub quiz, regular Saturday entertainment, active fund-raising for local charities and other local causes, Classic Car Club meetings (still my beating heart)and the cutest pub dog in England. What more could you want from your local?

This pub annoys me because it has such potential. Many years ago I used to live in Weeting. I stopped in again recently on my way through and discovered nothing had changed. This is the "only pub in the village" and is situated in a prime spot for passing trade. With a bit of investment and imagination this could be a great little place. Instead it resembles a half-arsed social club. The staff are indifferent and the beers predictable and poorly kept. They have a captive audience (the local villagers and Yanks from the nearby base) and the owners seem content with this, so no additional effort required. Shame.
