Now a Thai restaurant under new ownership. Seems to be getting good reviews elsewhere. EccentricRichard - 31 Jul 2016 02:05 |
Made first-time visit to the Harrow on Sunday lunchtime along with others from a walking group. Extremely impressed with the quality and generous quantities of food on offer, at very reasonable prices too. Around our table this included, from a varied menu, huge portions of ploughman's, ham egg & chips, roast pork & trimmings, fish & chips and salmon & crayfish salad. Service was friendly and attentive. The beer selection of Tribute, Doombar and T.E.A. seems to be standard for the pub but the several pints of Tribute I had were exemplary. the_whales - 15 May 2013 20:21 |
Paid visits here a few times in the past when my recollection was that it was a bit snobby, but not been for a few years. Seems a lot better now, food and service was excellent and not outrageously priced (mains around the £10 mark, afters £5.50. Beer as already mentioned seems to be the staples of TEA, Tribute and Doom Bar, so nothing desperately unusual in that respect. PhilR - 7 Jan 2013 10:33 |
Visited on the Saturday afternoon before last. The Withies down the road was inexplicably shut on probably the hottest Saturday of the year! Anyway a dozen or so of us settled in the patio area round the back and quaffed a few beers. They had Tribute and Hog's Back TEA on and the Tribute was fine, if not as exceptional as it can be when perfectly fresh. The bar was a bit pokey without much elbow room but service was pretty good. Nothing special really was my takeaway... beer_monster_smudge - 28 Aug 2012 15:14 |
It has to be said that this place has changed hands a few times & that it has something of a 'chequered' past. That said, the current incumbents are doing a fantastic job in our opinion. My wife, young son & I visited not long before Christmas 2011 on a Saturday lunchtime and it was great to find the pub bustling but not crowded. Food was good, as was the beer & we were made to feel most welcome. I live quite close by and drive past the Harrow everyday & am aware that a recent refurbishment (finished last week by the looks of things) has been completed so we'll definitely be going back to check it out. I am unconnected with the owners & tenants of the pub - I'm just glad to see it thriving once more. ethel - 20 Mar 2012 09:17 |
