This Pub is open again!

Don't know who paddysmudge is / was but his is the wailing, discordant song, of all failed, wanna-be, but ain't got the personality, non-publicans all over this country.
Pubs only get supported when they are run by a real publican who has the talent to entice custom through the door and then give a reason for the custom to return.

In response to ed chambers review on the 20th January 2009, this pub was closed because it was sold, but buyers pulled out last minute, hence it stands empty! it is not owned by a pub company it is freehold and still empty but still for sale, the current owners cannot re-open as they have moved on, and do NOT get enough support from the village to keep it running during these bad financial times.

According to the local 'paper this pub has suddenly closed down, and the interior has been stripped out, which suggests the pubco which owns it intends to make sure no one can challenge the closure or attempt to revive it as a pub.

Set in the centre of the village, an attractive building yet nothing out of the ordinary.
I rarely go to this Pub, its just out of my orbit but I called in recently.
Despite a bright and friendly welcome from whom I took to be the Landlady, the inside desperately needs some TLC.
The drinkers at the bar were friendly enough but the landlord seemed to be unsure of his role and did not seem comfortable with it, for me he created the impression that he felt he was doing all a favour and I'm not impressed with someone picking holes in the accomplishments of another, I'm capable of drawing my own conclusions!
The bar used to be bright, clean and well stocked under the last incumbents and the food was very good wholesome fare, which was reasonably priced, the last guy always came over as being very professional.
I cannot comment about the food or its cost now, however the bar is not so well stocked.

Not the most exciting pub you'll ever visit, and perhaps in need of a redecoration - but the welcome was friendly and the food reasonable. Part of a very attractive village.
