Nice traditional little pub offering selection of 6 ales. Cosy lounge with open fire. Good lunch available daily. Decent service.

Smashing little pub in the very traditional mould.
Very well kept real ales, pulled by hand; I had the Wadworth's 6X, which was very good.
Will certainly go again.

Single bar pub that was fairly busy on our Friday evening visit. Although many drinkers were only there waiting for their takeaway food from one of the several outlets nearby. Our visit was spoiled a little by the long wait to be served, with the landlord preferring to serve locals that had just walked through the door, rather than the people that had been waiting longer. The ale range was good however - Castle Rock Preservation Fine Ale, Purity Mad Goose, Greene King Abbot Ale, St Austell Tribute, Wadworth 6X and Hook Norton Old Hooky Bitter. Could be a good pub. But let down slightly by the poor service.

This would be a better pub if the manager engaged in conversation with people who were infrequent visitors. I always felt as if I was intruding on his normal customers. Don't get me wrong, this is a great example of an old pub, good interior and the beers are top notch, I just always felt that I was in the way of the regulars. Shame, this could be a great old traditional pub but is spoilt by a lack of customer service, a smile costs nothing.
