A once pleasant little boozer handy for the station has now been gutted and turned into some cheap and nasty café with a bar . Keg only - okay for a swift lager before the train and that's about it. Snarling_Mallard - 29 Mar 2019 10:22 |
This is more of a posh restaurant these days. I believe it used to be a Marstons pub. Only keg options now - Stella, Bass, Becks Vier, Peroni, Guinness & Thatchers Gold. A bit too upmarket for our liking. blue_scrumpy - 5 Mar 2015 19:50 |
Looks promising from the outside, but had no real ales available, so had to settle for a rather disappointing Banks Smooth for 2.70. It's a shame, because the other reviews suggested greater things. RacingChimp - 10 Sep 2011 21:27 |
I was in there on a saturday evening and found it very quiet. *In fact the bar staff almost out-numbered the customers. Nice place, however, and the berr was fine, if the choice was limited (only one hand pump working and an understocked fridge). I would go back, though. ZapuTheSnake - 12 Feb 2010 17:21 |
Good news (I think). The Albert has re-opened! We called in today (4th September) and were told the pub re-opened about a week ago. The bar area has been refurbished but the handpumps are still there and they plan to have guest beers. The kitchen is being refitted/brought up to date and they hope to be serving food very soon. We didn't stay long enough to have a pint as we had to catch a train. Unable to rate the pub at this point, but it looks promising. Worth another recce. Chrissy_G - 4 Sep 2009 21:51 |
