A somewhat shabby smallish village pub with a dining area (rather than a separate room) to the left as you walk in and the main drinking area to the right. We were the only customers at 3pm this afternoon. Landlord chef Matt offered us some free roast potatoes after hearing that we had just completed a long circular walk - these were washed down with a couple of very good pints of the seasonal Hook Norton Cold Turkey (unfortunately not free). Like the nearby Star Inn at Ashton under Hill, I wouldn't necessarily make a detour to come here again but it was decent enough. paul_d102 - 5 Jan 2020 18:42 |
The previous owners have left, at last! Now operated by Hook Norton brewery, good beer and best of all the landlady, Clare, and the landlord Neil are magnificent. The food is excellent, an imaganitive menu and beautifully cooked by Neil. They recently married, we look forward to their return from Honeymoon. davidstyles - 26 Jun 2007 13:12 |
Great pub, recently purchased by "Adam and Charlotte". Its in the CAMRA good beer guide 2005. Food is excellent and all home-made, beers include Wickwar Breweries "Cotswold Way", a selected beer from Wyre Piddle Brewery and a random guest beer, as well as your usual stellas, XXXX, guiness etc... Often hold quiz nights, curry nights, live music nights and parties for special calendar events such as haloween, new years etc. Adam and Charlotte have made this pub friendly, lively, and like the true country village pub it always should have been.
